A beautiful view in the Lake District.  We found this the busiest place for tourists and visitors - the second  and last weekend of fine summer weather - 2000..
Middleham. Yorkshire -  Castle ruins.  Sadly, like many places in England closed from 6pm, while there is daylight to 9pm.\

City walls in York.
Burnley  (Lancashire) Town Hall.  I remember the green dome clock tower from when I was a youngster.  Missing from the Burnley skyline was the tall Watts clock over the cotton mill.

Whalley abbey ruins.  This cistercian abbey was founded in 1100s.  Some parts of walls are still standing, other parts are just foundations grassed in.  Immaculately kept gardens.

Whalley Village street.  One part of this narrow winding street features half-timbered Tudor houses.


Church Stretton, Shropshire.  We stayed at a delightful B&B in All Stretton, and had a great evening meal at a little pub there.
